About the Artist Kraig Kiedrowski creates work in pastel, watercolor, oils, etching and monotype. The majority of his work celebrates landscapes urban and rural. Like most modern landscape painters the subject of his paintings is light and how light operates on form in different atmospheric conditions. ”When I paint I don’t think of a tree a boat a cloud for example, rather I think a color a shape a mood. It’s more of a short story and less a novel,” he says of his colorful paintings. A full time working artist, Kiedrowski is best known for his landscapes of California and the Southwest. Since moving to Texas in 2000 his pastoral vistas of the Hill Country and rugged West Texas deserts have caught the attention of local collectors. Kraig studied at Montana State University on an art scholarship. He was fortunate to continue his studies at the Art Students League in New York and later at Leighton Studios in San Francisco. Since then he has taken on independent studies with other artists of note. A winner of several awards, he has exhibited widely. His work is included in many collections both nationally and internationally. |
